Two inches of black tape obscured Penn State\u2019s logo on the 34-year-old father\u2019s hat, as he tried to ignore the jeers, slaps and beer hurled at him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPut abused kids first,\u201d one of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a>\u2019s signs read. \u201cDon\u2019t be fooled, they all knew. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/tom-bradley\/\">Tom Bradley<\/a>, everyone must go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/penn-states-beaver-stadium\/\">Penn State&#8217;s Beaver Stadium<\/a> loomed 30 yards away, rumbling with the first roars of Saturday\u2019s game with Nebraska. The sea of blue-clad supporters wearing gray fedoras and camouflage hunting jackets and \u201cThis is JoePa\u2019s house\u201d T-shirts parted around <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is such bull\u2013-!\u201d one young woman screamed at him after glancing at the signs. \u201cWho the f\u2013 do you think you are?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eyes hidden by blue aviator sunglasses, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a> didn\u2019t respond.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>A beer showered <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a>. One man slapped his stomach. Another called him a \u201cp\u2013-.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand the culture,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a>, who graduated from Penn State in 2000 with a degree in nutrition. \u201cI was part of it. It doesn\u2019t surprise me what I\u2019m getting from them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"pagebreak\"><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a> drove three hours from his home in Pittsburgh on Saturday morning. He was tired of reading about what university officials didn\u2019t do in the wake of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/jerry-sandusky\/\">Sandusky<\/a>\u2019s charges. The father of a 4-year-old boy, he couldn\u2019t stop thinking about the 23 pages of horror in the grand jury\u2019s indicA passer-by kicked it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re going to get your a\u2014 kicked, man,\u201d a man bellowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s bull\u2013-, guy,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n<p>Abuse flew at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/topics\/john-matko\/\">Matko<\/a> from young and old, students and alumni, men and women. No one intervened. No one spoke out against the abuse.
