Michael Burleigh in <em>Sacred Causes <\/em>has this to say about it:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">They wished to revivify Protestantism by incorporating those things that had made Nazism such a potent force. Their banner consisted of a cross and the initials SC with a swastika in the centre. This was not the first or the last time that a Protestant Church inclined towards a secular creed in the expectation that its adoption would fill empty pews, a cycle those Churches have endlessly repeated with environmentalism, campaigns against the Bomb and soft Marxism ever since.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">But Burleigh errs in not including the Catholic Church, which has learned to whore after the spirit of the age with almost as much energy as Protestants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.crwflags.com\/fotw\/images\/q\/qq-rb-xr.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"216\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormalCxSpMiddle\">\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-594\" data-postid=\"594\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-594 themify_builder themify_builder_front\">\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n<!-- \/themify_builder_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Politically\u00a0conservative and Pro-Nazi Protestants organized a movement of German Christians in 1933.
