William Effingham Lawrence<\/span><\/p>\n

William Effingham Lawrence ( August 22, 1896 \u2013 November 28, 1947) \u00a0was the son of\u00a0 James Armitage Lawrence and Ida Taber, the nephew of William Van Duzer Lawrence (the founder of Sarah Lawrence College), and the grandson\u00a0of the wife\u00a0of the 3rd cousin 5 times removed\u00a0of my wife.<\/p>\n

He also went by the names W. E. Lawrence, Babe Lawrence, L. W. Lawrence, W. A. Lawrence, W. E. ‘Babe’ Lawrence. You will note the absence of Effingham. He also gave up \u201cBabe\u201d Lawrence after 1924, because \u201c\u201dBabe\u201d Lawrence (no relation) had committed a spectacular murder and was in the headlines.<\/p>\n

W.\u00a0E. appeared in 120 films, mostly silent, the most famous of which is W. G. Griffith\u2019s Intolerance<\/em>, in which he played Henry of Navarre.<\/p>\n
