John Powers b7 Rochester, New York I understand why you think that we’re agnreieg, but we’re not. I don’t want marriage blessed by the church, I want marriage to be granted by the church, synagogue, etc. I don’t want the state to decide by judicial fiat that the meaning of the word has changed. Further, the state currently has prohibitions on marriage beyond sexual orientation; siblings, for example, cannot be married. What is this based on? Why can’t they have the same civil rights as other couples? They should be able to enjoy the same protection under the law by declaring an exclusive civil union. Marriage and civil unions are two different things with different purposes.
