Bishop Lahey and Sacrilege

October 20th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Nightmares are a hazard of those who investigate child abuse, and one of the most potent sources of the nightmares is the explicit sacrilege that is sometimes, perhaps often, involved in the abuse. Some abusive priests have dressed boys as Jesus and then assaulted them.

Bishop Lahey not only had child porn on his computer (bad [...]

The Heart of Man is Desperately Wicked

October 3rd, 2009 · 1 Comment

We shall see whether Canadian police have any record that confirms that in 1989 Earle told them about Lahey’s possession of child pornography. At that time, the possession of child pornography was not a crime in Canada, and the police may therefore not have made any record, even if Earle in fact told them.

Lahey’s [...]

Lahey Testified Against Child Abuse Victim

October 2nd, 2009 · 3 Comments

The Christian Brothers of Ireland ran the Mount Cashel Orphanage in Newfoundland. Some of the brothers physically and sexually abused children. The boys complained to police and social services, and both authorities covered up as much as they could for the Church. On a radio call-in talk how, Shane Earle broke the story of the [...]

Bishop Lahey’s History of Child Porn Known to Police

October 2nd, 2009 · 11 Comments

I have a section in my book (Sacrilege, pp. 71-80) on the abuse of boys at the Mount Cashel orphanage in Newfoundland. The boys had complained to the police for years, but the police and the newspapers covered up for the Church. Shane Earle finally was able to go public and there was a public [...]

An Episcopal Fugitive from Justice

October 1st, 2009 · 1 Comment

The merde has hit the fan in the Canadian Church:

An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Roman Catholic bishop from Nova Scotia charged with possession and importation of child pornography. The Chronicle Hearld reports:
The Ottawa Police Service Internet child exploitation unit charged Raymond Lahey, 69, on Sept. 25, 10 days after he was [...]

Canada Strikes Back

May 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Canadians are not sentimentalists about animals. Fur is not a luxury in Canada, but a necessity for surviving the winters. Europeans are trying to punish Canadians for killing seals (although the Europeans do not express any sorrow over the fish that the seals eat).
Matt Gurney at the National Post has HAD ENOUGH!
Barbaric European food [...]

Not Just Celibates

May 16th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Although I know that many people suspect that celibacy is the source of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, abuse, alas, is not prevented by marriage.
Selwyn House, a prestigious private school in Montreal, has had several cases of abuse.
The newly arrived headmaster had to inform the school that one of its employees was just arrested.

Michael [...]

Huck Finn in Québec

February 11th, 2009 · 1 Comment

As I noted in my book The Church Impotent, the Christian churches and the schools are both female oriented, and boys, especially blue-collar boys, do not like to go to them.

In Quebec, the Montréal Gazette reports
It is mainly boys who drop out and in Quebec, they are mostly French-speaking. Before coming to power [...]

Catholics and Anti-Semites Together

January 16th, 2009 · No Comments

Although Israel’s - and Hamas’s – actions are subject to moral scrutiny, the demonstrations that occurred when Hamas was firing thousands of rockets into Israel were invisible – because they didn’t occur.
Nor do critics of Hamas associate with racist ant-Arabs, mostly because there aren’t any.
But Catholics and others feel no taint in joining with anti-Semites [...]

Disappearing Canadian Children

The National Post reports

Canada’s under-15 population fell by almost 146,000 or 2.5% between 2001 and 2006, the latest census figures show, and is now sitting at 5.6 million.

Just after the height of the baby boom in 1961, more than one-third of the Canadian population (34%) was under 15-years-old, but by 2006, declining birth rates [...]

Canada Ages and Sickens

June 14th, 2008 · No Comments

The Globe and Mail reports

As Canada’s population ages, more and more patients are suffering from a host of chronic diseases, but there are too few general practitioners and specialists across the country to provide timely and quality care, a survey of doctors concludes.

When our son John, who has juvenile diabetes, was in Montreal, he had [...]

Canadian Timidity about Inconveniencing Pedophiles

January 1st, 2008 · No Comments

Throughout the history of the world, the weak have been exploited by the strong. One version of this bad human habit is sex tourism. Pedophiles from the First World go to the Third World to buy sex with children cheaply and safely. Thailand is a major destination.
Some countries have acted, According to Pédophilie: les lois [...]
